Course Aim:
To provide the learner with an opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to care for clients and their families in a variety of community settings.
Course objectives:
On completion of the course, Learners will be able to:
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and an ability to respect people as individuals.
- Understand the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of the individual for whom they provide care.
- Demonstrate the ability to carry out personal care for individuals while promoting independence in a supportive environment, and good healthy habits.
- Exhibit an ability and an attitude to be a flexible care team member who is responsive to both instruction and delegation.

24 days (5 days per week over 5 weeks or mondays over 24 weeks)

Work experience
In order to complete their certifcation learners must complete 1 weeks relevant work experience and maintain a learner record of that experience.
