The aim of this PHECC First Aid Response course is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be a First Aid ResponderFirst Aid Responder Course

Course objectives:

At the completion of this PHECC First Aid course learners will be able to:

• deal with life threatening or potentially life threatening conditions in the pre-hospital environment until arrival of emergency medical services.
• provide First Aid Response for conditions not thought to be life-threatening but are necessary to prevent further harm before the emergency medical services arrive.
• provide pre-hospital First Aid Response in a wide range of environments including home and recreational settings.
• display the requisite personal skills including composure, competence and self-confidence while understanding their limitations.
• recognise and be able to cope with the additional challenges provided by “Special Circumstances” for which additional training must be completed

Access: In order to participate on the course learners must have a reasonable level of English comprehension.

PHECC First Aid Response Course duration: 18 Hours delivered over three days (Two through video conferencing and followed by one in the classroom.

Learners will be assessed on five FAR skills including CPR on the final day.

PHECC First Aid Response Course Delivery Methodology

This is a three-day comprehensive course. Days 1 and 2 are delivered via webinar with Day 3 in a traditional classroom setting for practical exercises and assessments.
This element of the course will be delivered using Zoom software. The trainer must have the professional version of Zoom and must have completed our “Zoom for Trainers” elearning course. This element of the course is highly interactive and participation is required from learners. This is explained at the induction element of the course.
The methodologies used in this element include: Lecture, Discussion (full group and small groups in breakout rooms) and finally each module is finished by a Question & Answer recap session and participants must complete an poll.
Learners will also be registered on our elearning course which they can use to revise the information at their own pace.
Once the learners have completed the live Zoom session they will attend 1 day (9 hours) in the classroom.

PHECC First Aid Course Assessment & Time Commitment 

You will be required to complete a 20 questions MCQ on the final Day.  Allow 4 hours for the revision of your notes in preparation for this.

Preparation for FAR Skill (s) assessment. Your FAR and CFR skills will be assessed on the final day of the course. You will need to revise your FAR and CFR skills in advance of being assessed. Allow 2 hours for this preparation.

Certification

On successful completion of the course students will receive a PHECC First Aid Responder certificate
