Working At Heights Instructor Course

Working at Heights Instructor course aim:Working at Heights Instructor Course

The aim of this course is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to train others work safely at heights and inspect their own harness & lanyard.

Working At Heights Instructor Course content:

  • Legislation in relation to Working at Heights
  • Working at Height Definition
  • Ladder Safety Awareness
  • Working Safely on Roofs
  • Fall Arrest and Fall Restraint Systems
  • Risk Assessments for Working at Height
  • Inspection of Harness / Lanyard Systems
  • Suspension Trauma and Rescue Plans

Candidate Requirements: A good understanding of both oral and written English. We highly recommend Candidates have or complete a QQI Level 6 Training Qualification such as Training Delivery and Evaluation or Manual Handling instructor, especially if they intend delivering instruction or training on a commercial basis.

Duration: This is a one day course for experienced trainers with an existing training qualification.

Asssessments: Candidates will complete a 20 question short answer exam and will be assessed on the inspection and fitting of a harness and lanyard. They will need  to have a Harness and a Lanyard to hand. 

Certification and Accreditation: On successful completion of this Working at Heights Instructor course, candidates will receive a Working at Height Instructor Certificate valid for 5 years.

Resource Material: Candidates who successfully complete all practical and theory assessments will be provided with all material required to deliver Working at Heights Instruction. The aim of this Infection Control Instructor course is to provide you with the knowledge, skills and resources to train direct patient carers in Infection Control.

Module 1 Basic Microbiology:

Prior to attending the PHECC First Aid Responder Instructor Course, you are required to have the following certification:

Course Access:

This standard of proficiency is indicated by achieving or exceeding the standard of CEFR B2+ Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Learners who have achieved a passing grade in English at Junior Certificate level will be deemed to meet this criterion. However, learners for whom English is not their first language, are required to advise Qualtec, and may be required to provide evidence of proficiency. This could include completing a standardised CEFR test or equivalent.

Learners should have basic IT skills. They will need to be able email, word process (Word) and use Presentation software (Powerpoint).

This can be tested in advance of the course will arranging a practice log in by sending an email to [email protected] or using this online tool https://www.highspeedinternet.com/tools/speed-test. This should be tested prior to the course commencement.

Assessments

A number of FAR skills will be assessed on day 2 of the course. You will need to practice your FAR and CFR skills in advance of being assessed. Allow 2 hours for this preparation.

In order to become certified as a PHECC FAR Instructor you must assist on two First Aid Responder courses before being finally assessed on their delivery of  a 3rd First Aid Response course. You will need to  prepare properly in advance of the delivery of theses sessions a prepare a lesson Plan for allocated topics (template provided).

This must be completed within six months of the course.

PHECC First Aid Response Recertification Course

Course times: 9.30 am to 3.30 pm each day.

Course aim:

The aim of this First Aid Response Recertification course is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be a First Aid ResponderFirst Aid Responder Course

Course objectives:

At the completion of this First Aid Response Recertification Course learners will be able to:

• deal with life threatening or potentially life threatening conditions in the pre-hospital environment until arrival of emergency medical services.
• provide First Aid Response for conditions not thought to be life-threatening but are necessary to prevent further harm before the emergency medical services arrive.
• provide pre-hospital First Aid Response in a wide range of environments including home and recreational settings.
• display the requisite personal skills including composure, competence and self-confidence while understanding their limitations.
• recognise and be able to cope with the additional challenges provided by “Special Circumstances” for which additional training must be completed

Access: In order to participate on the First Aid Responder Refresher course learners must have a reasonable level of English comprehension.

To ensure the greatest opportunity for successful participation in our programmes, learners are required to have a good command of English in terms of reading, writing and speaking.

This standard of proficiency is indicated by achieving or exceeding the standard of CEFR B2+ Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Learners who have achieved a passing grade in English at Junior Certificate level will be deemed to meet this criterion. However, learners for whom English is not their first language, are required to advise Qualtec, and may be required to provide evidence of proficiency. This could include completing a standardised CEFR test or equivalent.

Learners should have basic IT skills. They must have good broadband access and their own laptop/ tablet with microphone and speakers. (at least 10 Mbps download speed).

This can be tested in advance of the course will arranging a practice log in by sending an email to [email protected] or using this online tool https://www.highspeedinternet.com/tools/speed-test. This should be tested prior to the course commencement.

The course must be completed by the learner on their own in a quiet location on a computer at a desk/table.

PHECC First Aid Response Course Recognition of Prior Learning.

Delivery Methodology

The theory is recapped and then the learners complete the 20 question MCQ. In the second part of the classroom session practical skills are practiced and assessed.

You will be required to complete a 20 questions MCQ on the final Day.  Allow 4 hours for the revision of your notes in preparation for this.

Preparation for FAR Skill (s) assessment. Your FAR and CFR skills will be assessed on the final day of the course. You will need to revise your FAR and CFR skills in advance of being assessed. Allow 2 hours for this preparation.

Certification

On successful completion of the course students will receive a PHECC First Aid Responder certificate

Entry requirements:

This course is for trainers that have already competed our Fire Safety & Marshal Instructor Course. Those attending this course should have a good command of English both oral and written.

Course duration: This course is one day in duration for experienced/certified trainers.

Certification and Accreditation: On successful completion of this Fire Safety & Marshal Instructor Course candidates will receive a Fire Safety & Marshal Instructor certificate valid for five years.

Resource Material: Candidates who successfully complete this Fire Safety & Marshal Instructor Course will be provided with all material required to deliver Fire Safety and Fire Marshal training including PowerPoint, Course Notes, Health & Safety Legislation, videos, check sheets and other relevant guides.

Post Training Support: We will provide post training support and advice to any or all candidate who may require it.
